Friendly Competition with New Comrades
Thanks to your support, Arc Communications celebrated its 7th Anniversary on July 15th.
With “Global business communication” as its slogan, our services have expanded from the original translation, website planning & design, and temporary employment & employment services to now include interpretation, English technical writing (Japanese only), graphic design (Japanese only), and English language training (Japanese only) in the lineup.
When looking even just at our translation services, the number of languages we handle has increased to an amazing 44. We are pleased that in our commitment to resolve customer needs, our services have been enhanced not only in terms of quality but also in their scope.
The private sector is not the only sector with global communication needs. We have recently seen an increase in job orders from academic institutions, which have an extremely high need to attract talented students and researchers to Japan. We provide assistance in the production of their websites as well as promotional materials, such as pamphlets, in addition to offering our translation and writing services.
Up to now, we have been carrying out work for and being paid by universities. But now, it’s my turn to pay a university! That is because since this spring, I enrolled in Waseda University’s Graduate School of Sports Sciences one-year master’s program.
People often say to me, “What? When you said that you were going to a university, you didn’t mean that you were teaching?” Actually, it feels quite refreshing to be back in school to learn. I am currently enjoying friendly competition with some wonderful comrades in Professor Takeo Hirata’s (formerly of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, and the former executive director of the Japan Football Association) seminar.
As might be expected of an adult education master’s program, my seminar-mates are from a diverse range of backgrounds and include top athletes, coaches, members of the mass media, and business professionals. It is wonderful that the friendly competition with other “students” in my seminar can also lead to actual business.
Arc Communications continues to grow steadily, but I am back in school so that I can increase my capacities and help the company achieve dramatic growth.
The short summer vacation has come and gone; we are heading at full speed towards our master's thesis. The relentless heat will continue for a while yet, but I hope that you will not let it get to you. Please do take good care of your health.
