TRYING TO TRAIN MY FINGER MUSCLES TO PLAY THE DREADED A-SHAPE BARRE CHORD!!But firstly, a little introduction.. I've been learning the guitar for a little over a year now and with the help of a great little website (
www.justinguitar.com) I've been struggling my way through all the guitar roadstops that usually get in a beginner guitarist's way.
Until now...
The A-shape barre chord is damned impossible for me to play. This particular guitar chord involves the use of your index finger to hold down the string second from the top (the A-string) while also using the same finger to slightly touch the uppermost string (the E-string) to mute it. This part isn't the problem. The real problem is that you need to use your ring finger to hold down strings the three strings below the second string (the D, G and B strings) two frets up from your index finger position at the same time. Sound confusing? Here's a couple of images that might help clear things up..

Looks simple enough right? Well it causes your ring finger more pain than the seven fires of hell if you can't flex the finger backwards at all like me! Any advice more than welcome!
